Tony Spinosa

As an American Producer, Writer, Composer, Director, and Choreographer, Tony Spinosa is thoroughly invested in preserving and innovating the Broadway musical.

Tony received the 2026 Best Play Tony Award ® as producer for Liberation, Bess Wohl's brilliant Pulitzer Prize winning Drama. He was part of the producing team for Appropriate, the 2024 Tony Award® Winner for Best  Revival of a Play, and the 2023 Tony Award® Best Musical Revival of Parade . In addition, he was part of the producing team for the Tony Award® Nominated productions of Gutenberg! the musical! , Cabaret at the Kit Kat Club, and Water for Elephants. Tony was also Co-Producer on the 2025 Tony Award® Best Musical Nominated Dead Outlaw. This season on Broadway, in addition to Just in Time , he is also Co-Producer on Two Strangers (Carry a Cake Across New York) and Titanique. Additional projects include Ride: A New Musical for the U.S. Premiere at the Old Globe in San Diego, One Day - The Musical and The Standard of Living on the West End, Farewell Mr. Haffmann at the Park Theatre in London and the UK tour of The Talented Mister Ripley.

His latest project, The Singing Revolution, is a musical that tells the story of an Estonian who falls in love with the daughter of a Soviet Commander. Set to an electrifying Europop score, The Singing Revolution is a love story inspired by the incredible events of the Estonian Revolution - where a nation sang its way to independence from Soviet rule.  Tony Spinosa and James Bearhart’s soaring musical, directed by Jonathan O’Boyle, reminds us all that our voices united in harmony have the power to shape our future and change the world. After over a decade of occupation, Estonia has become resigned to its fate. But everything changes when a young local, Taavi, finds himself drawn to Sofia, the daughter of a Soviet commander. As time passes and sides are picked, Taavi inspires his fellow countrymen to rise up and demand freedom through the unifying power of song. But as revolt threatens to tear the lovers apart, can Taavi and Sofia's love survive?

Born in New York, Tony was mentored by theatre legend Michael Bennett and made his Broadway debut in Peter Pan with Cathy Rigby. As a performer, Tony appeared in National and International tours of A Chorus Line, Evita, South Pacific and Leader of the Pack featuring Sha-Na-Na. He performed at the Hollywood Bowl in South Pacific with Reba McEntire & Brian Stokes Mitchell and A Tribute to Marvin Hamlisch featuring Nathan Lane.  Select regional performing credits include Walnut Street Theatre, La Mirada Theatre for the Performing Arts, El Portal Center for the Arts, Berkshire Theatre Festival, Casa Mañana, and International City Theatre.

He became the Resident Director of the 2010 Tony Award® Winning Revival of La Cage Aux Folles and has produced mega-hit Broadway benefits of Thoroughly Modern Millie, Bombshell, [Title of Show], When Pigs Fly, They’re Playing Our Song, Chess, and more. These special events have raised much needed funds for important organizations such as Broadway Cares/ Equity Fights AIDS, The Entertainment Community Fund, and the Theatre Development Fund.

Tony’s award-winning direction and choreography includes Off-Broadway’s Charlie Chang and the Mysterious Salami, as well as regional productions of Newsies, West Side Story, and Cats. Additional credits include mounting productions of Hairspray, Fame, The Music Man, Oliver!, Kiss Me Kate, Fiddler on the Roof, and of course, La Cage Aux Folles.

Through the European Arts Organization IETM, Mr. Spinosa has created international collaborations in Zurich, Glasgow, and Vilnius. He is a proud member of SDC, AEA, SAG-AFTRA and DGA. He splits his time between New York, London, and Palm Springs, CA.
